Hey Everyone

Some sad news to report. Suzi Finer just posted on facebook that her husband has melanoma cancer that has metastasized into the bones and lungs. It is terminal and a matter of time, please keep her and her whole family in your thoughts and prayers.

August 31 to September 6

The Extravaganza is schedule for October 10. The teachers will be Linda Forrest with Ellie Shaw (co-teacher), Jessica Hollowell, Lori Lai, Gayle Smith. Will have stamping Cuttle bugging and who know what all else. Our Limit is 20 people so, sign up early. The cost will be $85.00. When you sign up let us know if you want a red or black tote bag. Remember breakfast and lunch is part of this day, and we'll also have some drawing.

We still need feedback from all of you that are interested in starting up the Pinecone Book Club again in September (need a minimum of 6 for a commitment for the rest of the year). Please let us know - make your interest known either on the blog comments or by emailing me (Karen) at www.stampinheart@hotmail.com.

September Classes and News

Hi Everybody,
We have a wonderful classes and teachers. Check out the schedule below and watch the blog weekly. Our weekly class schedule will be on the blog along with any changes. Also, our Extravaganza is schedule for October 10, keep on eye on the blog for further information.
We also need feedback from all of you that are interested in starting up the Pinecone Book Club again September (need a minimum of 6 for a commitment for the rest of the year). Please let us know - make your interest known either on the blog comments or by email me (Karen) at www.stampinheart@hotmail.com.

Friday, September 4 - Stampin' Cafe' Night from 6:30 to 9:00. Bring your supplies and your project and come on in, we"ll have some fun together.

Friday, September 11- Make -N- Take night with Laura Kanno from 6:30 to 8:30. Each project is $5.00.

Wednesday, September 16 - Calligraphy Class with DeAnn Singh From 6:30 to 8:30. We are running our normal 10 week session for $200.00 or you can sign up for as few as 6 week session for $120.00. DeAnn works with each student and you can choose which Calligraphy you want to learn. You can also check DeAnn website at http://www.desgningletters.com/.

Thursday, September 17 - ATC Club/Class with Jessica Hollowell from 6:30 to 8:30. Cost is $10.00.Jessica will teach you a technique and then you will get to make two of your own. Bring 6 to 10 ATC's to trade. It is a fun way to get new ideas. Note - that the ATC Club/Class is now meeting on the 3rd Thursday of each month.

Sunday, September 20 - The Faminine with Kelly Kilmer from 12:30 to 4:30. Cost of the class is $70.00. In this class you will create an 8" x 11" book with a quick and easy stitch, finished off with an embellished spine! We will explore hands on new mixed media techniques on the pages involving paints paper and more! Been saving a stash of favorite images? Itching to make a new unique book? then this is the class for you! Supply List - scissors, small selection of favorite collage, ephemera, bone folder, cork back metal ruler, roll of wax paper, roll of paper towels, permanent black ink pad, container to hold water, 3 1" brushes to glue and paint (i like chip or bristle brushes). Wednesday, September 23 - Calligraphy Class #2 with DeAnn Singh from 6:30 to 8:30.

Thursday, September 24 - Art from the Heart Club from 6:30 to 8:30. This is the first meeting since June. Come on by and see what this club is all about. If you are into card making and ephemera this is the club for you. They meet once a month (the last Thursday of each month). There are no dues for this club. Saturday, September 26 - Basic Black with Wendy Poma from 10:30 to 2:30. Cost of the class is $40.00. This would be a lovely gift or something that you could use yourself for journaling.

August 29 & August 30 Classes

Saturday, August 29 - Floral Journal with Wendy Poma from 10:30 to 2:30. Cost of the class is $40.00. Wendy has designed a journal to be used for many things. This one has a plain cover with a flower in the center. Very pretty to be used or given away






Sunday, August 30 - Lori Lai from 12:15p-4:30p. Cost of the class is $50. I will be teaching two separate class. For those who missed one of my favorite classes, here's your last chance to make the Demo/Sample Cards I made for Hanko at this location. (see "Carson" attachments)Also....For those who want to continue on and "LOVED" the first class, I will be offering Class #2 Not pictured: Blue card similar to the pink card. Note: Students need to sign up for one or the other class. (If you can, please e-mail Lori at lori@lorilaidesigns.com or call the store to which class you want to attend, it helps me prepare easier).
Recommended Supplies for this class: small "x"- xyron sticker maker (if you own one), paper piercer, foam mounting tape, double sided tape, bone folder, pencil/eraser, scissors, adhesive Runner tape(such as Monoadhesive) or any other Basic Supplies Kit.

Week of August 17 to August 23

Wednesday, August 19 - ATC Club with Jessica Hollowell from 6:30 to 8. Cost is $10.00. Jessica will teach a technique for ATC and then you will get to make two of your own. Suggested: Bring 6 to 10 ATC of your own to trade

Saturday, August 22 - Motherboard Piano Hinge Journal with Jessica Hollowell from 10:30 to 2:30. Cost is $50.00. Aubergine Piano Hinge Journal (cover)coming in August, we'll delve into a new way of creating a book. It's called the Piano Hinge binding and it looks a lot harder than it really is, We'll decorate the cover with custom papers (we'll paint & embellish) and lots of scraps. Then we'll make inside journal pages that you can later write or color or stamp as the spirit moves you. Anyway, it's lots of fun and I encourage you to bring whatever papers and other goodies you may want to include. Supply List: Bring precision scissors, glue sticks double side tape, redline tape rubber gloves.
August 17 to August 23 - This is the last week for the Shop Hop. There are prize drawings for those who get to most of the shops on the list. The rules and regulations are in the passport itself. The passport is in the shop now. The lanyards and pins will be there sometime this coming week. The cost of the passport, lanyard and pin is $14.99. The passport alone is $5.00 now and $7.00 after the shop hop starts and you receive a 15% in each of the stores (excluding some merchandise in the shops). There will also be a Stampin' from the Heart Shop Pin. That pin will enable you to some discounts throughout the year at our shop. The Shop Hop lanyard and pin will enable you to go from a 15% to a 20% discount in the participating Shop Hop stores. The theme this year is jungle and the make n' take will be a 6x6 page, which is what all the shops are doing so when the Hop is finished you will have a book of 6x6 pages to represent each shop.

TATTERED ANGELS

The Tattered Angels arrived today for those that are interested. A few new colors Jack O' Lantern, Haunting Shadows, Marshmallow, Cinder, Caramel Apple, Indian Corn to name just a few. Don't forget the Make It Take It tomorrow evening--Gayle will be using several of the Tattered Angels colors.

TATTERED ANGELS MAKE AND TAKE FRIDAY

Gayle Smith is doing a Tattered Angels Make It Take It Friday. It will be $5 per project (card) and the good news is--barring any unforeseen events we will have over 100 containers of Tattered Angels in the shop Friday with such yummy new colors as Jack O' Lantern, Raven, Haunted Shadows, Caramel Apple, Indian Corn, Pumpkin Pie, Pashmina, Peppermint Sticks and my favorite Marshmallow--it looks like Iridescent Gold on steroids. It is a great color--can't wait to get them here. We only have a limited number of each so be sure to get to the shop early and check them out.

Also, don't forget Mike Strong on Saturday with his Craftsman style cards (a favorite for making cards for all the men in your life) and his minis with his new mini stamps.

And I can't let Sunday's technique class go without notice. Kathy Russo (new to our shop as a teacher) is doing a technique class with Alcohol Inks and with all the new colors we can't have too many techniques. Her samples are in the shop--you don't want to miss this class.

Also, thank you to all our visiting Shop Hoppers--the pins are supposed to be in the shop on Friday and I will get them out to you immediately. Thanks for your patience.

This weekend classes - August 14 to August17

Friday, August 14 - Make-N-Take with Gayle Smith from 6:30 to 8:30. Each project is $5.00. Ready for some fun???? These are some of the samples of the cards that you will be making. There will be plenty of sample cards on display to spark your creativity and to help you explore your Tattered Angels color combo plus a little embossing. It's hard to see the glimmer and glitz in these photos, but they sure sparkle. So get ready to get inky! Bring your heat gun, if you have one.



Saturday, August 15 - In the Craftsman Style with Mike Strong from 10:30 to 12:30. Cost is $30.00. Mike Takes inspiration from Craftsman movement of design from the early 20th Century. He's fashioned a suite of cards paying homage to this artistic style. Come to Stampin' from the Heart for this premiere class and take home five masterpieces!


Saturday, August 15 - Mike's Minis with Mike Strong from 2 to 4. Cost is $30.00. Come make some fabulous new card using the latest stamps from Micheal Strong Rubber Stamps. Mike will guide you in making 5 all new cards using some of his new mini stamps. Don't miss out!


Sunday, August 16 - Technique Class with Kathy Russo from 12:30 to 4:30. Cost of the class is $40.00. Six cards in 3 hour class. the class will involve 3 techniques using Tin Holtz's Alcohol inks to create unique background paper. the fist is a take on the spin art a look created using canned air. the second uses ink and blending solution on the craft sheets to create a washed look. the third uses his applicator tool to create a granite look with reflective qualities. Each technique will be done in Brights and the Lights. I will be providing: Adirondack Lights and Brights Alcohol Inks, Adirondack Blending Solution, Metallic Mixatives, Ink Applicator Tool, Fillable Pens, Canned Air, Non-Stick craft sheets, Paper Piercer & cork square, Crop-o-dile, Archival Ink Black and Sepia pads, Brads, Flowers, 1 Inkssentials white opaque pen, Glossy and Regular cardstock. I will be using 6 of Tim Holtz's new stamps sets and 2 older sets. Supply List: Need to bring a personal paper cutter, adhesive of your choice and any other tools they would like. I will have adhesive and a few cutters just in case.

Saturday, August 8 - "Accordian" Card - Lori Lai from 10:30 to 3. Cost of the class is $50.00. Lori will be doing a cool "Accordian" Card using her favorite "double embossing" process. If you made the little "Baby Blue Accordian card" and love it, then this is the class for you! I will be using Hanko stamps and Kodomo (all eight designs of Kimono stamps). I know that you all own a few, if not all of them. Also, I've develop a technique stamping on fabric and wrapping the image. (similiar to paper quilting). Supply List - You might want to bring the following items for this class: xyron "x" or similar xyron machine, paper piercer (a must), foam mounting tape, red line tape or sticky tape, adhesive (whatever you like to use), scissors, bone folder, mementos markers (if you have them bring them) and any other general supplies you normally bring to a workshop. Don't forget to bring something snack on.


Sunday, August 9 - Mini Tag Art Journals with Linda Forrest from 12:30 to 4:30. Cost of the class is $35.00. Three Themes to choose from Frida, Asian or Birds. Let the shop know which theme you'd like so the proper kit will await you on the day of the workshop. Supply List: scissors, glue stick, and awl, bone folder, black ink pad (such as Memories, if you'd like to stamp quotes on Chinese Proverbs) and a snack for energy
