RECIPES FROM LAST NIGHT'S CALLIGRAPHY

Here as promised are the recipes from last night's calligraphy. Our artistic people are also culinary artists so enjoy these recipes. If you ever need a recipe from any class or project in the shop let me know and I will try to get it for you. Leave a note on the blog.

ALAN'S SEAFOOD SPREAD

1 cup chopped green onions
1 cup chopped celery
1 can Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 lb. shrimp (chopped)
1/4 lb. crab (can use the canned crab)
2 TBSP Boiling Water
1 Packet Knox Gelatin

Mix the boiling water and Knox (unflavored) gelatin. Stir for at least two minutes to make sure it is well mixed. Then mix all the other ingredients into the gelatin, mix well and put into a mold (fish mold is awesome with this recipe) sprayed with Pam. When unmolding run a knife around the edges and turn onto a plate.

Now onto DeAnn's Potato Recipe

3 large russet potatoes
1 onion chopped
1 Can Cream of Mushroom Sop
1 8 oz. package of Cream Cheese (room temperature)

Slice potatoes in half then in about 1/8" slices. Put the potatoes in 12 ounces of water with about a 1/2 tsp. salt in the water. Put in microwave for about 15 minutes. When the potatoes are cooked, mix the rest of the ingredients and microwave for about 8-10 minutes. Can be eaten hot or cold.

I hope you all enjoy these recipes.

Also, tomorrow is the last day to sign up for Wendy's Fabric Pocket Book on Saturday and Lori Lai's paper weaving class on Sunday. Both are really great classes.

Some of you have asked about repeat classes. Generally speaking each month's classes are different and we do not repeat classes. If you miss one we are really sorry--occasionally there is a class that we have many requests for repeats and then we will reschedule the same class. Also, if a class is cancelled because not enough students have signed up that class many times is rescheduled.

If you have any questions regarding anything, leave me a note under comments and I will respond. If you want a private response and know I have your email ask me to email your response.

MARCH UPDATE

Hi Everybody--

Just a quick note to update you as to what is going on. We are well into our preparation for our Extravaganza in April. We have ordered all the stamps, have ordered most of the paper and most of the ink--they will be coming in over the next week or two. For this Extravaganza we will be serving a Continental Breakfast (juice, coffee, tea, bagels, and sweet rolls) instead of a full breakfast--that way we can start crafting at 9:30 which will give us an extra half hour in the morning and hopefully make things a little less hurried. The continental breakfast will be out at
8:45 and we will start our projects at 9:30.

More of the Alice in Wonderland stamps and collage packs and card packs are on their way.

Also, the new distress inks should be here sometime next week.

I'm sure most of you saw our tribute to Sumi Kanno who passed away March 13. Our condolences to Laura and her family.

We would like to start a Pinecone Press Projects Night once again. Gayle will be the teacher but we need to have at least four (preferably more) committed students to do this once a month for the next four-six months. The cost is $35. With that you get a kit with the paper, ribbon, chipboard for certain projects and an instruction booklet with at least 7-10 more projects. In the kit there is enough paper to complete at least two projects and sometimes more. Projects consist of cards, purses for art projects and chipboard books. We would love to have you join us.

If you have any questions about anything, please call (310-391-0466), email me www.stampinheart@hotmail.com or post a note on the blog and I will get back to you asap.

For now have a wonderful weekend. Looking forward to seeing those of you who are taking Mike Strong's class tomorrow (Saturday).

LAST CALL FOR MIKE, KELLY, WENDY AND LORI'S CLASS

If you want to take any of the above classes we need to hear from you. The teachers are cutting paper and trying to prepare for the classes and need to know how many, if any. There is a good chance that Kelly's, Wendy's and Lori's class will be cancelled so if you want to take these classes we need to hear from you. You can respond to this blog or call the shop or email me. Waiting to hear from you.

REST IN PEACE SUMI WE WILL MISS YOU

It is with a saddened heart that I report to you that Sumi Kanno (our own feisty mascot at Stampin' from the Heart) has passed away. She was 91-2/3 (according to daughter Laura) and she passed away in her sleep on Saturday, March 13, 2010. Our condolences to Laura Kanno and her brothers and other relatives. Sumi was such a part of the shop, she always wanted to help and we could never get her to craft--she always said she did that in the home she stayed in when she was little. Always a smile and all over the shop. Sumi you are loved and we will miss you--Rest in Peace--

PROJECT CLASS

Gayle Smith will be doing a Pinecone Press Project class on Friday, March 19. Demo is in the shop. Pinecone Press is coming up with some real cute projects--for either making cards or albums or journals. It is $35 for Gayle doing the class and the kit which gives the book with more projects in it than the one you do on Friday night. Call the shop before 6PM Thursday and let us know if you can come--it is going to be a fun night.

UPCOMING CLASSES

This weekend Mike Strong will be doing a classy Black and White class. Black and white is always so elegant and Mike's cards are a phenomena in themselves. You don't want to miss this class. Mike will be checking with us on Thursday to know how many have signed up so he can prepare--don't be left out. Then in the afternoon he will be showing us how to make beautiful cards with Mica Gloss, a very different type of paint. Some of you may have purchased the Mica Gloss in the shop when we first got it in, now is the time to learn how to use this product. Again, please give us a call to sign up for Mike's classes. Each one is $30 and one is 10:30-12:30 and the other is 2-4 and a fun time is had by all. These both are don't miss classes.

Kelly Kilmer is doing a class called Bloom in which she will be covering a paper journal and doing other things in the journal. Sunday, March 21, $70 12:30-4:30.

Wendy Poma regulars need to sign up for Wendy's class next Saturday, March 27. There are many openings for this class. She will be doing a Fabric Pocket Book this week.

I would like to take a moment in this blog to encourage many of you who haven't taken these teachers' classes to really try them out. Each one of these teachers has a following and are noted not just here in California but across the United States (i.e., Kelly Kilmer) and the world (i.e. Mike Strong who has taught in Holland and in other European countries). Wendy has taught at several different colleges, at Vroman's in Pasadena, and several of the museums.

These teachers have trained and their art is beyond compare. With Mike you learn so much as to how to use stamps in many different ways and his cards are always very elegant. Never will you have as much fun and do it in such a short amount of time as when you take one of Wendy Poma's book class. Books always seem so difficult but Wendy makes the time breeze by and then you go home with a book or journal. Both Wendy and Mike have such up personalities, it is like a little bit of artful heaven on earth. They are really fun and you will miss something if you don't take at least one of their classes. Then we have Kelly, she brings goo gobs of stuff puts it on the table and tells you how to go about making art and you really have fun doing it.

It is just fun to get away from the everyday and move into the art realm even if only a couple of hours.

Give us a call to sign up (310-391-0466) or email me at stampinheart@hotmail.com, we will be waiting to hear from you.
