Start by constructing a large journal from scratch using a recycled hardcover book. Then we'll spend the rest of the class creating our own unique, personal pages. Learn about color, composition, design and more while focusing on visual self expression on the pages of your new journal. While we’ll begin this class by creating a stunning portfolio, the main focus on the class is also constructing a set of individualized art journal vision cards. We’ll be creating a small deck of art cards layered with a myriad of collage, pen work and much, much more! Once embossing enamel is applies we will be piling on Mica Fragment and Glass Glitters. So fun, you will fell like an artist. You will get your hands on 26 sheets of Graphic 45 paper and a chipboard tag sheet to create this 6x6 calender book. This book was designed by Laura Dension for Graphic 45 and i had the pleasure of sitting in on the class when she taught it at Winter CHA. This Book is so fun you will want to make one for yourself and some for gifts. After your book is put together you will even have pieces left for card making. Supply List: paper trimmer (for sure), scissors, adhesives wet and dry, double side tape (like red line or white line) and pop dots if desired, ruler, 1/16 hole punch, and bone folder.

I will be using products that I featured at last weekend's Carson Convention.  The Beach bag die, Flip-flops die, Hawaiian shirt die, "New" Hanko stamps & matching dies, "New" Lori picks embossing folders,etc. (possibly a Sister, Sister stamp or two). We had so many new items that my head is still spinning!  I will have lots of color samples on hand this weekend. Students will also have the opportunity to do the card projects from the last class as well.  I will bringing the sample boards from the last class. If you missed the last class this is the time to catch up on those projects if you choose to do some of those cards.. (Last class included the "Curve" panel Hanko die). Sunday, July 14 - Little Love Notes: Triptych Book Revised and Revisited with Kelly Kilmer from 12:30 - 4:30. Cost is $70. I've revised and revisited different formats of my extremely popular Triptych Book class since I first taught it at Artfest in 2001. This has to be my most favorite version of the book. You will create a book where the pages swing out door-like. Explore using a variety of different mediums and materials as you work your way through the pages. Learn a variety of new and unique methods in self expression as you work in your book. This book has pushed me to think and step outside of my box. I will be pushing you in the same way in class (and you will love it!) Be prepared to step out of your comfort zone and have a heck of a good time doing so. Your art journal is a window to your thoughts, dreams and passions. In this four hour workshop we will be focusing on creating a unique, collaged book with a variety of different sized and appropriately placed windows. Learn how to tell your own story as you explore a myriad of collage and journaling techniques. Be prepared for lots of layering and self expression in this workshop! I loved working in this book and so will you!
