HAPPY NEW YEAR

Wednesday, January 13 - Calligraphy Class with DeAnn Singh from 6:30 to 8:30. We are running our normal 10 week session for $200.00 or you can sign up for as few as 6 week session for $120.00. Sunday, January 17 - Everything you want to know about pens(!) and more....., with Kelly Kilmer from 12:30 to 4:30. The cost of this class is $70.00. Are you a closet member of PAA (you know, pen addicts anonymous)? Do you hoard pens? Do you want to learn different things that you can do with your pens? Are you stuck in a rut using the same black gelly roll glaze pen again and again? Are you curious about whichpens you absolutely need? Wondering what works with your mixed media projects and what doesn't? Look no further. Most of you know, I don't travel light to my classes. In this class, I will be bringing ALL of my pens for you to play, learn and explore HANDS ON. We will not only work with the pens and learn what works, but we will be creating mixed media collage pages ("and more"). We will be using the pens on our newly created collaged pages. You will explore different writing techniques as well (think Urban Calligraphy style!)-yet, this is not a calligraphy class! YES, we will learn everything about pens (and more). YES, you will explore and play with different writing styles and techniques on your newly created pages. YES, you will walk out with a pile of completed pages and tons of ideas. YES, you will be inspired. YES, you WILL have fun! Optional-You can bring your journal to class to work in, or the teacher will be supplying paper for you to work on. Supply list: Scissors, small selection of favorite collage ephemera, bone folder, cork back metal ruler, roll of waxed paper, roll of paper towels, permanent black ink pad, container to hold water, 3 1" brushes to glue and paint (I like chip or bristle brushes)

UPDATE FOR FRIDAY, DECEMBER 18

Along with our Hero Arts Preview Day we also have in shop the new TJ Designs--Welcome back Alice, Mad Hatter, the Rabbit and the whole crew. Also TJ Designs has some Vintage Photo Paper Pack, Italian Art Stamps, I Remember Paris Stamps, Design Element Stamps--matching paper packs, card packs and collage packs. Come by and see the new designs. TJ Design stamps are phenomenal--they stamp like a dream. They are Cling Rubber. Lots of new stuff in the shop. Come by and see.

THANK YOU!!!!

Everyone here at Stampin' from the Heart want to say Thank you, for all that came to our annual Holiday Open House on Friday (12/11). We had so much fun doing Make & Takes and spending time with old and new friends. Once again Thank you very much. You can still see the samples of the Make & Takes, they are on view at the shop.

Friday, December 18: New for us--a Hero Arts Open House. We will be doing Make-It-Take-Its with 6 of Hero Arts new stamps. Samples are in the shop now. We will be open from 11-9. Come in a do one of the MITI or do both of the MITI. We will be having stamps for sale but there will only be a sampling of the stamps so come early if possible. There will be enough catalogs to buy--they are $10 each. So if you don't get your favorite stamp at least you can have a catalog. We will be taking orders for HA stamps if we have sold out of them. If you pay in advance there will be a 10% discount.

Friday, December 11 - This is the first day to use your % off little envelope. this is our annual Holiday Open House from 11 to 9. Come in and finish your shopping and share a little holiday cheer with us all day long. Our Holiday Open House is going to be a little different this year. Our gift to you, besides your envelope with your percentage off, is going to be an extra 20% on Friday, December 11 only. Sunday, December 13 - Holiday Party Tag Girlz with Linda Forrest from 12:30 to 4. The cost of this class is $45.00. Whether you"re the light of the party or the wall flower you'll love this holiday party! We will paint and stamp lovingly aged and charming backgrounds onto 6 tags which will feature an art doll that you will assemble in this workshop. All pieces are pre-cut by Linda making it easy for you to assemble. These tags make great gift and add an instant decor element to your living space by mounting them onto a piece of painted wood or a painted canvas panel the also make great holiday card to give to your artsy friends - just write or stamp a heartfelt sentiment on the back. The idea on what to do with these tags are endless but the class is only being offered once so sign up FAST!!! Supply List: glue stick, small sharp scissors and a snack for mid-day energy is a good idea too.

December Classes

We wish you all a very Blessed Holiday Season. We hope you take this time to spend and enjoy with family and friends. In all the craziness of the holiday, we wish you a peaceful time to reflect and plan for next year.

For those of you, who have a child or children or loved ones, in places of war and fighting. We pray that we will all see them come home safely and be in good health, physically, mentally and spiritually.

Sunday, December 6 - Devotional Book with Kelly Kilmer from 12:30 to 4. The cost of this class is $70.00. In this workshop, you will create a small and personal hard cover book made entirely by your own hands. We will spend some time binding a journal utilizing asimple and elegant looking stitch. Then we will unfold upon the pages learning mixed media paint and collage techniques while exploring new ideas. Want to make a small book that you can take with you on a daily basis? This is the class for you. HAPPY THANKSGIVING--OPEN 10-3 ON FRIDAY

A wish to all of you for a wonderful Thanksgiving. I wish you a day of enjoyment and comfort with your family and friends. Take time to talk with one another and let each other know how much you love them. Some have had some pretty tough times this year but we can be thankful for the family we love and loves us back.

This is such a special time of year--no gift giving just giving of ourselves and really isn't that the best gift of all.

For those of you that are new to Stampin' we do this during the holiday every year. Every time you purchase anything during the holiday season starting today you will be given an envelope with a percentage (from10% to 50%) or an Instant Winner. 1 envelope per person (who purchase something) per day. If you get an Instant Winner you can pick any wood stamp in the shop. The day you can start to redeemed your the highest percent envelope is on our open house, which is on December 11, 2009.

MAGENTA CLASS

Thursday evening at 6:00PM we will have an evening with Helene Metivier from Magenta. She will be doing a 4-card class Thursday night before convention. There are still some openings left, but please sign up today (Wednesday) so we can get ready. Shop open until 9:00PM tonight.
Cost of the class $35 with an extra 10% discount (above our normal 10%=20%) for those who take her class.

FREE! - Mini-Lectures - (Saturday & Sunday) First-come, first-served seating.

ATC Contest - Enter our ATC (Artist Trading Card) Contest on Saturday, November 14th to win some mad money that you can use to buy stamps goodies from any of your favorite vendors at the stow. All entries have to be hand deliverer to the RSC info room at the show by 11 am. All winners will be announced at 2 pm and need to be present to win. Check ATC poster or website for more info.

WHAT'S GOING ON?

Ok, let's start with change of hours for shop. Starting Tuesday, our shop hours will change. Our hours Tuesday through Friday will be 11AM to 8PM. Saturday (10-5:30), Sunday (12-5) and Monday (closed) will remain the same.

The book is called Hand Lettering (Calligraphy) and was written by our own DeAnn Singh and Marci Donley. The Book signing will be from 11-12on Sunday and the party from 12-3. There will be food, drinks, door prizes and lots of fun. There will be demonstrations by Carrie Imai, Jane Shibata and Lisa Engelbrecht. Marci Donley and Sylvia Kowal and I will be doing Make N' Takes. Looking forward to seeing you all Sunday. Watch the blog for any more updates.

Mike Strong will be back on Sunday, November 8 at ****10:30AM**** until 4:00. He will be doing his Christmas Tree Stamp cards in the morning and a Crazy Quilt card (with leftovers, of course) in the afternoon. We are opening early this Sunday.

RECIPE FOR STRAWBERRY GREEN SALAD

For those of you who were at Extravaganza and asked for the recipes, here is the first one for the Strawberry Green Salad. Thank you for coming to Extravaganz, we are looking forward to our first Extravaganza next year on April 17 and we hope you all enjoyed it enough to come back.

1-2 heads of lettuce (romaine and red)
12 oz. slivered almonds, toasted (spread on a cookie sheet and cook 5 min. @ 375o)
2 pints of strawberries

Wash lettuce and strawberries. Tear lettuce, slice strawberries. Toast almonds and cool them. Mix all salad ingredients together. Mix dressing ingredients together and pour over salad just before serving.

Dressing: If making a large salad you can double this recipe

1 cup of mayonnaise
2 TBSP honey ginger vinegar (any kind, I used pear)
1/4 cup milk
1 cup sugar (I used Splenda)
1 tsp. Poppy seeds

LATEST NEWS FROM SFTH

Extravaganza in just 4 more days, we still have a few (7) openings. Give us a call. We're all going to have a good time. There will be drawings and gifts. Plus all the fun projects from our very favorite 5 teachers.

Also, even though Extravaganza is on Saturday, we are still having Make-It-Take-It on Friday with Jessica Hollowell. Don't forget to come out and support the teachers that willingly give their time for these MITI's. Starts around 6:30 and goes usually until 8:30 or so. $5 per project.

This news just in from Mike Strong: Mike's first class on October 17 is going to be a card-making class using his new Cloisonne Cameos and Twinkling H20s. His second session is Ikebana inspired cards. First class from 10:30-12:30 and the second is 2-4.

Wednesday, October 7 - Calligraphy Class #3 with DeAnn Singh from 7 to 9. You cab learn Copperplate, Italics or some other wonderful form of Calligraphy. At some point , DeAnn has promised to show us Illuminated Letters.

Thursday, October 8 - Canvas Pocket Book with Kelly Kilmer from 6:30 to 8:30. The cost is $55.00. In two hours, you will paint, scrub, lather, and layer acrylics learning several new techniques as you go. You will assemble a small square journal from scratch with a wrap around canvas cover. Kelly loves the size and the feel of this book. The size is user friendly, not overwhelming and inviting for anyone to use! There's lots of painting in this class so make sure you wear your apron and come prepared to have fun and get messy! Supply list - scissors, bone folder cork back metal ruler, roll of waxed paper, roll of paper towels, permanent black ink pad, container to hold water, 3 1" brushes to paint with (Kelly like chip or bristle brushes).

Saturday, October 3 - Beautiful Butterfly Book with Jessica Hollowell From 10:30 to 3:30. Cost of this class is $50.00. Come and share Jessica's love for butterflies as you make a special altered book that will feature collage images, stamps, decorative paper, ephemera of all kinds and other surprises. This is one you won't want to miss. Supply List: glue sticks, red line tape, scissors, rubber gloves, double side tape. Don't forget to bring a snack or lunch.

Extravaganza/September 23 to September 27, 2009

Reminder the Extravaganza is coming up very soon it's schedule for October 10. The teachers will be Linda Forrest with Ellie Shaw (co-teacher), Jessica Hollowell, Lori Lai, Gayle Smith. Will have stamping Cuttle bugging and who know what all else. Our Limit is 20 people so, sign up early. The cost will be $85.00. When you sign up let us know if you want a red or black tote bag. Remember breakfast and lunch is part of this day, and we'll also have some drawing.

If you are into card making and ephemera this is the club for you. They meet once a month (the last Thursday of each month). There are no dues for this club. Saturday, September 19 - Cuttlebug Class with Gayle Smith from 10:30 to 2:30. Cost of the class is $40.00. A last minute class added to the September schedule. How excited Gayle was to be able to grab this date that was recently vacated by another teacher. We will make 7 cards. Bring your own machine, whether it be Cuttlebug, Big Shot, Big Kick, or Side Kick. If you don't have a machine but still want to take the class, we have 6 machines. When you sign up at the store and state you need to be provided a machine. And yes, we will use some of the new embossing folders released this summer at CHA!
